History
The origins of Forgital Italy S.p.A. date back to 1873. Its initial business, carried out exclusively at family level, was based on the production of farm equipment, but the company's real development is more recent and dates from the establishment in 1943 of a little workshop named Fratelli Spezzapria.
In 1962, the Company developed further thanks to the purchase of a new area of 13,960 sq.m, 1,100 of them covered: this was the birth of Forgital S.a.s..
The first Wagner rolling mill was installed in 1966 with an 80-tonne thrust power and a rolling capacity of up to 2000 mm. This was later flanked by a rolling mill with a thrust of 125 tonnes for rolling rings up to 3000 millimetres.
Forgital bought an area of 50,000 sq.m in 1971: here it built sheds with a total area of 13,000 sq.m in which it installed a 2500-tonne press and to which it transferred the 125-tonne Wagner. Then more presses and rolling mills were bought for the production of rolled (not welded) rings.
This marked the start of Forgital's experience in the sale of rolled products and consequent specialization in the production of rings with a rectangular and profiled section and with diameters up to the current ones.
In 1978, a Wagner press was installed for forging, with a maximum power of 6000 tonnes, which was increased to 8000 tonnes in February 1984.
1982 saw the establishment of Forgital USA Inc., the sales company that would play a key role in the development of relations and business in the world's leading market.
The development of Forgital in the second half of the eighties was characterized by the application of countless technological innovations which led, for example, to the installation of a completely automated and robotized line for the production of rolled rings with rectangular and profiled sections, and the installation of laser systems for the dimensional control of the pieces before cooling.
Forgital Italy installed a new rolling mill in 1995, capable of producing rings with diameters up to 7 metres; this was accompanied by the installation of new heat treatment ovens and vertical CNC lathes for the machining of pieces with diameters up to 8 metres.
Today Forgital Italy is part of the Forgital Group which employs over 1300 people, numbers 17 companies in the production, sales and services areas and realizes an overall production value higher than €500 million.
